Sand Drags

A beach in North Central Montana? I really don't think so… but give a few Hi-Line boys a chance and they may create their own.

Starting with a fairly flat straight stretch of ground, digging down a few feet and laying in some river sand, then putting up a bit of guard rail to create Sand Drag Pits. Drag racing not with slicks on pavement, but digger tires and paddles on sand.

Set up the Christmas tree, before long the racers are at the line anticipating the green light, when lit, look out!!!! Sand will fly 100 feet into the air, roars from the engines will be heard, and fascinating speed will be watched in a blur.

See vehicles like your daily driver, or a semi-stripped down version, to the totally outrageous rails and Sand Buggies dig into the sand like they are getting ready for a clam fest.

Come play with us today!!!

Mud Bogs

3) Add in some mountain dirt, clay and a bit of gumbo
4) Add water, stir gently until well mixed

Note:  consistency should be like a very heavy pancake batter. And NO… the detergent doesn't keep your vehicle cleaner!!!

AMX (Auto Moto Xross) Races

Combined the skills of a stock car driver and off road racer place them on an odd twisting turning track and you get pretty close to what AMX racing is… With all tracks having different configurations, it presents a challenge to drivers and their cars.

Starting off with the mini stock class; cars with 3 or 4 cylinders and a wheel base of less than 106 inches. Stock Class is for the 6 or 8 cylinder cars with exhaust restrictions to level the field of any unfair advantage. Super stock is a wide open class, for whatever you want to build for power and suspension leaving it entirely up to the builder to see what they can handle.

Let me take you for a lap around the Lohman Motorsports Complex AMX track… Get in, buckle up, put your helmet on, fasten your window net… and HOLD ON!!!!

It's basically a kidney shaded track, with a sharp banked south turn, drifting uphill sideways to the top of a hill. Coming down the hill into what we call the chute with a gradually right hand turn into an unfriendly dip, from the dip into the flat part of the north turn. In the center of the north turn it becomes nicely banked leaving into a short-straight sag. Out of this sag, speed picks up again, until you hit the launching jump into a nice straight-away pass the crowd and head flag stand and back into the south turn.

All starts are rolling starts with usually a pack of six or eight cars cruising at 25 to 35 mph. Door to door and bumper to bumper until the green flag is dropped and all chaos breaks loose. All cars are required to have at least a 6-point roll cage, driver's window net, and full 5-point racing harness to protect the drive and the car.

Rollovers are somewhat frequent, mishaps do sometimes happen, rubbing is racing, but intentional hitting is not allowed. Some speeds on this track range from 50 to 70 mph.

What do you think… want to ride… do you have what it takes???
